The National Space Strategy 2031, approved by the Cabinet chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is based on three main objectives.
The first is to make space investment more attractive through a flexible regulatory environment open to global partnerships.
The second is to lead international cooperation through participation in joint missions to the Moon, Mars, and the asteroid belt.
The third is to develop competitive infrastructure, including research centers, satellite manufacturing facilities, and advanced laboratories for space-related AI.
Among the achievements announced by the agency was the extension of the Hope Probe mission to 2028, following its collection of more than ten terabytes of open scientific data on the Martian atmosphere.
The Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt also advanced. It is the first Arab project to explore asteroids between Mars and Jupiter.
The agency highlighted the launch of MBZ-SAT, which provides high-resolution images to support research and commercial projects.
It also highlighted the establishment of the Sharjah Space and Astronomy Complex to support space education and scientific research.
These developments reflect the UAE's growing role as an international center for space innovation, combining scientific research, investment, and international cooperation, and strengthening its position as an emerging space power in the Middle East and globally.
